Manually Installing Printers - UAC Problem - "Do you trust this printer"

Can anyone please let me know how to resolve this annoying problem!! (See screenshot attached)

 

I have this problem when staff try to manually install a printer, and if using GPP the printer fails to install saying the driver is not available.

I have created a group policy (for both user and computer sections), and placed it in the main domain OU

It contains the following as adviced for scripts. but we are still getting the warnings.

 

Any advice please?

Security Prompts:

You may need to disable UAC completely. You can do this via GPO.

We have Windows 7 workstations but, currently, a Server 2003 Domain Controller, so we have to set a local group policy object - my notes read:

 

Run gpedit.msc

Navigate to Local Computer -> Administrative Templates -> Printers -> Point & Print

Set enabled & do not show warning

 

I added this local GPO to the main image that I then sysprep'd and imaged on to our workstations. A script then runs to install all our software, and that script includes a section where it adds and removes each different type of printer we have to make sure the printer driver is installed. Then, users can add (or have added for them at login time) whichever printers are most appropriate. I seem to remember the UAC dialog is only hidden for users who are members of a particular local security group (could well be the local Administrators account on each machine) - again, I would have set that up when I set up the machine image, but I don't remember exactly.

I've tried the point and print solution and it's never worked for me. I deployed the printers to old way through group policy. then later used GPP as the driver was installed bythe prevoius GPO install.

What OS is your print server running? We have had all sorts of fun and games deploying printers to Vista and 7 via Group Policy. If you have 2008(R2), ensure that the print server role is installed and push out and create the group policies via the console. I have never had any issues deploying this way, just seems to work for Vista and 7 clients!
