No funky lights anymore!

Finally I get my hands on a budget, and an agreement for an uber laptop - and they don't do flashy lights on the XPS series anymore!

That was a great meeting with my Head :

Me: "Erm, I hate to be cheeky..."

Head: "I like cheeky, go ahead!"

Me: "Well I had a chat with the old DH and he said I could look into a superdooper laptop at the end of the financial year along with getting me a budget sorted to streamline operations... so too cheeky?!"

Head: "Why do you need one better than ?"

Me: "Blah Blah Blah, Virtual Machines, Blah, Work from home, Blah"

Head: "OK, how much?"

Me: "Around £600/£700"

Head "Oh, that little? Go for a better one that'll last"

Me:

The downside is I now have to buy all the bloody photocopier paper as well.

Alienware happened to the XPS range which means generally they look rubbish without the lights ;)

Anyone remember the Dell M2010 (which I think was an XPS model) "laptop"? Was nearer a modern version of the old luggables and I was so close to building one from parts but was missing a working optical drive (Had a BluRay drive for it but it didn't work :| )

I used to have the M1730, it used to be great for late night gaming - no other light source needed. I now have the L502x and it looks like a business user laptop, like a Vostro :(
