Unity Web Player

Has anyone managed to install the Unity Web Player add-on? We want to install it to use Pora Ora : The Online 3D Educational Game for Children, but the add-on doesn't install properly. First problem was that it wants to install to the user's local profile, but the /allusers switch sorted that; the add-on installs (or at least is listed in Add-On Manager) but the page spits up an error. It installs fine into Chrome, Firefox and Safari though!

Has anyone got this working in school yet? I've been requested to install it on 20 laptops but I cant get it to connect to their server. thanks

I've had it successfully deployed to a few workrooms here as an .msi through group policy. I can't remember how I got the MSI out though, nor can I find the guide, so having a play now.

 

One thing I did remember was this command:

\\\UnityWebPlayer.exe /S /AllUsers

which is meant to be a silent install for all users.

 

Edit: I can't for the life of me figure out or remember how I got the msi out of the exe. If you want to do it that way, I could stick the msi somewhere for you to use if you want though.

I've only just got round to doing something with this, so wanted to say thanks, the MSI works a treat. That said, the MSI isn't available on that link any more, but fortunately I'd downloaded it at the time you posted it.

Hi all,

 

I don't suppose any of you have the .MSI package for Unity it's self do you (I know this thread is related to the web player but shhh)? IT Teacher wants to see if it can be beneficial to her and I can't find an .MSI anywhere!

 

EDIT: I have got it installed, but now it's not connecting to their license server, anyone else had this? It tries to connect for about 5/10seconds then fails and closes Unity.

Ive been asked to install this awful web player too.. its the most backwards web player i know of.

 

I installed the version from the unity site thinking, yep that was simple - but no, it only installs to the profile i was logged on with when the installation takes place, so that would have been network admin.

 

I have tried to install the MSI which it looks like its going to work but it asks for an update and that's when things dont work.

 

Has anyone managed to get this ridiculous program not to check for updates?

I have this headache. have successfully installed using msi but still I get "install unity player" on the webpage. cant even get as far as getting stuck on the update thanks for the msi though....

I'm still testing it though. Those clowns over at Unity need to reevaluate their licensing model.
