Seeking Guidance on Imaging with Windows 7

Recently I had an XP workstation go u/s with a hard disk fail. Replacing the HD I now have it set up with an activated Windows 7 (on EES) with Office 2010 also installed and activated along with basics like Java, Adobe reader and Flash and the domain default printer and joined the domain - I have not as yet activated AV from the Enterprise Consul nor installed Impero etc.

 

Tomorrow I'd like to make an image of it so that future HD fail workstations I have an image to roll out.

 

From my limited knowledge and research I believe that Windows 7 has everything built in that I'd need to do this but reading what i have Googled has left me confused. Can someone point me in the direction of a simple to use set of how to instructions please?

Unless I'm mistaken I thought you'd not be able to use that image on "other" pc's because it's activated wouldn't it have same guid etc as all pc you image it.

 

Thought that's why you sysprep the original image machine

So long as it's a Windows 7 Volume License, you can clone, Sysprep it and join it to the domain just as you did with XP.

 

In your case I'd then enter the MAK key instead of KMS (it's just a different way of activating). If you're looking for a Sysprep file, here's one I made earlier.

 

The added bonus with Windows 7 is you can clone it over different hardware out the box.
