when double clicking an item opens software but not the doc

for example when open word doc opens up word but then does not load word doc

i've noticed that this happens if it is the first time that the app has run - more of an annoyance than anything else.

This happened at our install when we had imaged the PCs but not copied over the default NTUSER.DAT file - a rebuild with the correct .dat file sorted it.

@Russ: Since you're using the evil CC3 with its roaming profiles, try deleting the profile and receating it.

 

Simply using a Default User profile would mean that you could just update your default profile.

Would that still be the [local] profile Russ? - does it happen with all users on the PC, including local admin?

Could be corrupt file association... Check the 'advanced' settings against a working XP PC with same version of Word.
