Hacksawbob Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Hi We are looking into having a tagged tour around the school. So we would have QR type tags (actually prefer the microsoft ones tbh) on doors which an iphone/ipad/android/windows mobile etc could scan and takes them to a auto playing full screen video of a class happening in the room. What would be the best way to store the videos online so that all devices can view them from just scanning the tag? I have tried radiowaves but the webpage opens, you can click play on the page, but I would rather the video would just start. I guess its an augmented reality thing that I am tring to do. Any ideas? Thanks
Hacksawbob Posted January 18, 2012 Author Posted January 18, 2012 Going to take a look a look at Aurasma...
jamesfed Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Anything wrong with YouTube? Could even get the videos hosted as unlisted so that only those with the tags saw them.
Arthur Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Another vote for YouTube. In addition to what James said, by modifying the URL, you can change the way the video is presented too... http://www.youtube.com/embed/rNsrl86inpo?modestbranding=1&rel=0&showinfo=0&showsearch=0&autoplay=1&hd=1&controls=0
Hacksawbob Posted February 10, 2012 Author Posted February 10, 2012 Thanks for the responses, You tube is blocked for our site (due to software filtering issues all staff are currently on a pupil policy), the videos need to be available to pupils as well though so you tube is out I'm afraid. I am not sure how to get a video automatically playing full screen with any device though, suggestions welcomed.
mdench Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 I assume you have a wireless network? you could try setting up a file share with anyone access on a server and setting the QR codes to link direct to the file share and then the video so \\svr\folder\video that should then force the video to be opened in the default player on the device and should be displayed in full screen mode... Never had a chance to play with QR codes much so dont know if thats possible but a general idea?
