Adam92H Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Lancashire County Council's Vacancies Database Thought I would post this up on here, I would apply for it myself but I feel a bit too young for that role yet!
ctbjs Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Is this an ICT Manager post or a Senior IT Techncian?
SimpleSi Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 What makes you doubt its an ICT Manager job??? Si
mb2k01 Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 What makes you doubt its an ICT Manager job??? Si The answer would probably break the golden rule of what not to discuss in the Job Forum?
SimpleSi Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 If its the subject that I think we are not allowed to talk about then its OK to talk about net man salary in lancs as that job role has been equal pay reviewed so they are all the same so discussing it is just social comment as its a fixed fact and not down to the school anymore Si
mb2k01 Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Hmm. Lancs have done their schools a disservice then, as their review puts the role lower than other parts of the country which have been regraded - even here in Cornwall! (Here I'd expect that level to be alongside a Senior Tech or Assistant Network Manager at a push) I suppose when you bring in factors like cost of living / location etc, perhaps things equal out?
HarryMonkey Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 I don't think these reviews are ever designed to look at comparable jobs in other parts of the country, just to compare similar jobs within that county, so they haven't done their schools a disservice as the intent was never there to look at other counties in the first place. However, looking at many of the jobs that have appeared here over the last year or so, I think the salary is comparable with a lot of different parts of the country (including here in MK).
jjoe90 Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 21k? That's not even national average for a skilled job with manager status. It is a joke.
HarryMonkey Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 21k? That's not even national average for a skilled job with manager status. It is a joke. Where do you get £21k from? The ad says 22-26.
jjoe90 Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 sorry about that, hit the wrong key. Statement still stands, even for the extra 1k
featured_spectre Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Was going to say...£22k-£26k seems very reasonable considering its in Lancashire. If it was London you could expect £5-£10k more on that, but for Lancashire that is a very good wage. @Ric_ was on the upper end of that I believe and he was in Lancashire.
ChrisH Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 That is the EPR result for the role of ICT Network Manager in Lancashire. It will not change and you will start at the bottom of that salary range unless you are already on a similar scale in the county. From what I have seen of other counties results the top end is fairly good compared to others although it will take you 5 increments to get there! These are schools/council jobs and these wages have been set by "a panel of experts" so they are not going to change. If you wan't a higher grading you will need to take on a lot more responsibility and that will take you away from the sphere of IT management too often. As already stated talk of wages is not allowed as it takes the topic to the same inevitable place, start your own topic! I have posted information as regards to the specific pay scales of the county for your information only not to compare wages.
