jamesbrown Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Hi I have set up a couple of shared folders to store data. In sharing i give the folder full control to Domain Admins, and modify to staff which is a security group i made in AD. I gave Domain Admins full control to the security permissions of the folder and modify for staff. The Domain Admin account i made the folders on can get access to the folders, when i log on as a different Domain Admin account, i don't have access to the folder until i click continue for everything. Does anyone have any ideas about this? Thanks James.
Michael Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Where or when are you being prompted to click OK? What you should do, is right click a folder and select Properties. Click the Sharing tab > Advanced Sharing. Tick Share this Folder, specify a share name, then click on Permissions (just below). Give Everyone Full Control, then click OK, OK. Click the Security tab, click Edit. You can now add/remove individual users or Security Groups. Does this help?
jamesbrown Posted December 8, 2011 Author Posted December 8, 2011 I created the folder using Domain Administrator account, then logged off and logged on as a different domain admin account. When i go to access the folder it displays "you don't currently have permissions to access this folder, click Continue to permanently get access to this folder". When i click continue i can get in no problem but i can't see why it is showing this as Domain Admins have full control over share and security permissions?
Michael Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Are both admin accounts members of the Domain Admins group? I presume if you added admin1 and admin2 accounts to the list, instead of a Security Group, does this work? Also (thinking about it) navigate to Control Panel > Folder Options > View and untick Use Sharing Wizard (Recommended). This'll give you the advanced options for sharing folders.
