Torrevez Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 I am just about to build a small NAS box for our 2k3 servers which will be located in a different building on our site basically giving us an offsite backup. The hardware side of things am fine with. Its just the software, I really can't decide which is the best method to backup the data so am now asking for suggestions. Thanks Daniel
3s-gtech Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 What data - system state? Or files and folders? For files, I'm a broken record; always recommending Robocopy as it's free, built in and powerful. There are plenty of alternatives though.
jamin100 Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 just going through the same and have built a freenas server and am going to be using backup assist on the server
Torrevez Posted December 5, 2011 Author Posted December 5, 2011 Both system state and data. Not in the same backup though. I have used Robocopy before on my personal server at home, so that could well be an option. For system state I have just used the built in backup utility before but I fell its not very user friendly.
