jamesbrown Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Hi I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro L300-19S laptop that will not power up. When I plug in the AC adapter, the AC and charging light show. As soon as I press power to boot up the laptop the power light flashes then all lights go off. After that the Ac and charging light show again. I have tried using a different charger, re seating the RAM and using different, also tried without the battery and the same thing happens apart from the charging light doesn't show. Does anyone have any ideas on this? Cheers
difinity Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Remove the hard drive and try again. Also try a different processor if you have one.
jamesbrown Posted December 1, 2011 Author Posted December 1, 2011 I just tried removing the hard drive and same happened. Also tried putting a different one in with no luck. I don't have a different processor to try. The laptop has been dropped in the past and we have had several problems with it crashing, changed the hard drive and Ram in past too. Do you think the m/boards dead?
glennda Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 try lifting the panel off which the button is in, you might find the button underneath has slipped - i had it with a few Hp's.
godskitchen Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 I had one of these laptops do the same to me, mine was a crack in the motherboard, tiny but deadly. It was dropped around 10 times in its life. 1
sofia20 Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 The problem seems to do with power on of the laptop. It maybe due to the capacity of the battery or the adapter itself. have it check by someone who is more skilled in that matter.
fear-otaku Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 When you turn the laptop on the power on light flashes? On Thoshiba models this indicates a failure with the Motherboard and it generally needs to be replaced. You could also try re-seating the ram and it looks like you already tried reseating the hdd.
Achandler Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Flashing lights on Toshibas actually mean there is a short somehwere, usually the mainboard ofcourse. Use to flash 3 times on L300s, I've worked fixing them. usually it means your stuffed if just using a different battery or power adpater doesnt work.
EvLPhenom Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Just to echo what @Achandler said we've had this on one of our Toshs and a couple of other makes of laptops and all of them have been a replacement mobo.
