oalcock Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Question for you folks! I am currently trying to get together a database of server details for all of our servers. I have used spiceworks in the past which has carried out a pretty good job of this but don't want to use it if it means that spiceworks installs a client software package on each server as I don't want to start installing stuff on servers. Can somebody let me know if the software gets the information without installing a client? Oliver.
JoeBloggs Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Install it in on one machine and it will crawl your network and find all devices. That is of course dependant on firewall, authentication issues and such.
oalcock Posted November 28, 2011 Author Posted November 28, 2011 Yes but it wont install anything on the servers themselves?

SHimmer45 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 and i believe sends info to spiceworks themselves?
SteseD Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Is it server info such as drivespace, RAM use etc you are after? We are using something called Spotlight for windows here, which displays loads of info in real time...
