garethEds Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Afternoon, Is there an issue that sees FMS fail to work with a mapped network printer? We are having this issue and have been told by our LEA support that it needs to be a local printer. This is a pain as we are trying to remove local printers that cannot be put against cost centres in pCounter. Any advice appreciated (or workarounds), Cheers Gareth
vikpaw Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 I have it on my win7 box with a default network printer. It is fussy about printers though. Have you tried another printer. I'm sure this was in another thread not that long ago..
matt40k Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 I was told you don't need to worry about having a printer on the Autumn 11 release of FMS.
Rawns Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 This error has been around ever since I started working at the LA almost 3 years ago! Capita have no know fix, and we have no permanent solutions either. It seems to be VERY temperamental at times. the only two "workarounds" I've come across are: 1. Change the default printer to a different printer (local or network), log into FMS. If it logs in normally, close it down, change the default printer back to the original one and then load FMS again. 9 times out of ten, this seems to get it working. Failing that... 2. Delete the network printer and then reinstall it fresh, then set it as default. I'm hoping what @matt40k has heard is correct! this problem annoys me greatly! 1
Sylv3r Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Yep, we tend to choose another network printer and it works fine. Slightly bizarre bug / errorr.
