MK-2 Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Fair enough it wouldn't be much use to you, but looking at it from my own perspective: I don't drive, I catch the bus or train everywhere. Spend at least 2 hours a day on/waiting for the bus/tram, regularly visit family 'oop north which is about a 2 hour journey each way... I could just put on my phone what I want each day/week, but for convenience it's easier to put everything I might want on there - with SD cards so cheap these days, why not? I agree, but the whole argument/conversation was based around the phone not having an sd slot. If there is an sd slot and you use it a lot, fair enough

If there is an sd slot and you use it a lot, fair enough Fair enough, but the problem is if it doesn't have enough on board storage to hold a decent music and movie collection, it'll put people like me off buying it, and I think there are a lot of people like me! (the voices all tell me I'm normal anyway)

If you're managing to fill 8/16gb (which most phones come with as standard now anyway) of onboard space, what are you doing? Music. Absolutely no problem what so ever. I have subsonic now which allows me to stream straight from home, but I've just moved house so haven't set the server back up yet - OMG it's killing me having to listen to the same songs over and over. 16gb is nothing in todays standards, 32gb would be almost there, 50gb+ would be much better. That's before I load my satnav maps on, which, due to only having 16gb space, I only put on when needed.

Depends on what quality you want. The above assumes each audio file is around 0.5mb and each movie is 240mb, which would be completely unwatchable and unlistenable quality. By my phone atm, 2.5gb gets me 150 songs (some of those will be hour long sets mind). Therefore 16gb gets me 900, and as said thats before movies, apps, satnav, backups, pictures... So you have all your personally-owned MP3s saved on your school network, then? Your Network Manager must love that.... Can't speak for anyone else but to me it seems overkill. edutech4schools Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 I have all my music on my phone so I can rate music based on how many times its been played. Something you cant do if your always moving songs to and from the phone.

You started out saying you couldn't see what the fuss was about, and then later said you could see the reasons, they just didn't apply to you. The spurious exclamation mark was possibly a hang-up from an earlier, more sarcastic, draft.
