It's out.

I've heard of one person for whom the system is down.

Any one else with thoughts, issues, advice, post it here.

All associated parts for InTouch, ADPS etc were released at once, but the ADP needed re-releasing later in the day, so worth checking if you downloaded it early in anticipation.

Watch out for any Academies you may support as an LA! Seem's Capita completely side stepped us and released SIMS and FMS Autumn 2011 to all of them in SOLUS3! If we had the next version of SOLUS3 and had set up auto-install upgrades, it could have been very nasty!!!

Awaiting our LA to release it to us via Solus 2 although I have Solus 3 installed but not using in earnest yet as we are awaiting to be converted to Academy.

Will be an interesting few months ahead hehe!

But I like a challenge :)

If you are moving from Spring to Autumn...you need to be aware that for some reason, Capita thought Finance teams would like a new teletubbies look. Its horrid, and does some wierd stuff.

We are direct Capita support - so whill wait to see what others have done. Might even consider firing up another HyperV VM to play with it....ideas.....

Got mine working, Solus 3 messed up AGAIN which they said will be fixed int he next release soon.. my advice.. wait till that get released.

No surprises there then. We are now using SOLUS3 purely to roll out Discover to schools that request it. Installed it in about 8 sites so far with another 5/6 on the waiting list. Touch wood, it's not been "tooooooo" bad with it, but the fact it's so unintelligent means lots of time telling it where everything is (Binn folder, SIMS/FMS/Discover install location etc).

My blood pressure still hasn't leveled out after our recent Summer upgrade, I think I will give these releases a wide berth for some time.

As for my Solus3 experiences, there isn't enough room on this forum to catalog the pain I encountered a few months back.

Lets hope the new, new release actually works as we are all going to be using it as Solos2 could well be binned next year.

I didn't go to Summer due to FMS issues, but now i've found in the documentation that the only supported versions are Summer and Autumn, i'm sure it used to be the previous 3 releases, but now it seems it's only 2, so if you avoid one for whatever reason, you have to take the next one or find yourself unsupported, or at least that's the way it seems. I'm pretty sure in practise they wont be so strict...inshallah.

My Autumn Upgrade still shows as Withdrawn in Solus3, does anyone else's or just me?

Just wondering if I need to go and knock on Support's door....

Are you an Academy who buys support from your LA? Capita released it to all of our Academy's directly (again) even though they buy support from us. After an irate phone call, they withdrew it from them so that we can release it during our rollout week.

Last upgrade we did broke InTouch. Have had them scratching their heads over it. I'm waiting for the phone call I always seem to get telling me to hold fire lol!

After our Summer upgrade In Touch is now broken as well. Its seems to be a .NET 4 thing, 'the callback service cannot be contacted' support is also scratching their heads Lol :-)

The release has only been withdrawn because a Census Fileset is not included.

Those of us who have upgraded will be able to import that Fileset when it is available on SupportNet.

Those with problems, are you on .Net4 EXTENDED?

Well we are an Academy but as far as I'm aware we have moved over to SIMS Direct Support.

@Sivadam Thanks, so it should be withdrawn then. Wish Capita would tell you this stuff.

They do keep us very informed - via SupportNet!

It wasn't posted on Supportnet until the evening of the 23rd though (I checked)

If you're supported directly by Capita - you would have got an email. If your on SOLUS3 and you've setup alerts - you'll get an email saying you've received the autumn 11 re-release.

OK, you won't have now as they've pulled it (for now)

Hmmmmmmm!!!!

My Email arrived on the 24th Nov and yet I had posted the reason for the release initially being pulled at 1.57 PM on 23rd Nov!

And I had seen it before then - I just wasn't logged into Edugeek and so had not seen this thread until quite a bit after I knew that the release had been pulled!

And importing the Fileset meant I did not have to run the second upgrade!

See post here http://www.edugeek.net/forums/mis-systems/86299-sims-net-autumn-release-pulled.html from @PhilNeal .

SIMS August 2011 has been pulled due to a problem in the Pastoral Structure. The original issue with the Census file set was resolved.

I have not yet come across that issue. Maybe I better go and find out what the issue is!

Update!

This does not affect us - it seems from the other thread that only 3 schools are affected out of the 1,000 that have taken the release. This highlights the problem that Capita has in testing the releases! If I had been at UAT for this release then my dataset would not have picked up any issue! Release are tested extensively but there are now 22,000 schools with SIMS and they all use SIMS in a unique manner! That is SIMS strength - you can tailor it to the needs of the school.
