Little-Miss Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Hi, what office apps are you using on your iPads? There's obviously their own "pages" etc but for the cost of one app I could get all 3 in quick documents. Anyone got any personal experience with any?
GrumbleDook Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Hi, what office apps are you using on your iPads? There's obviously their own "pages" etc but for the cost of one app I could get all 3 in quick documents. Anyone got any personal experience with any? I like Pages for some stuff ... as a WP / DTP package it is nicer than Word 2008 but it is about balanced for Word 2011 (DTP better on Pages, but WP better on Word ...) but that is for the desktop program. When it comes to the iPad (especially if you are looking at off-line tools) you have 4 main options. iWorks for iPad, QuickOffice Connect Mobile Suite, Office2 HD and Documents To Go Premium. None of them are as fully featured as a desktop tool but have their own niche. iWorks has the best integration with the media libraries on your device is one example and QuickOffice is a clutter-free and still powerful enough when working on things like spreadsheets (I find the presentation side lets it down though). I have both iWorks (because I use it heavily on my mac) and QuickOffice ... and use each one as I need. The same way I have iWorks, MS Office for Mac and OpenOffice on my desktops. There are a could of sites out there which have more in depth details about it ... it might have on ZDNet or MacWorld earlier in the year ... I'll have a hunt for the links. 1
CyberNerd Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Google apps does a pretty good job. Unfortunately it won't cope with sliderocket though. 1
Little-Miss Posted November 14, 2011 Author Posted November 14, 2011 Yeah, I've read some reviews but i like to see if there is some real world experience out there.
CyberNerd Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 Yeah, I've read some reviews but i like to see if there is some real world experience out there. Our Deputy head has been using google apps on ipad for some time now with no reported issues. We have about 19,000 google docs on site now and it is our primary office application. Functionality is the same on any major browser, 1
SYNACK Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 On that note, have you looked at the Office Live WebApps via skydrive etc, the nice pretty easy UI of Office 2010 on the web. 1
