Dos_Box Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 I'm currently doing some testing that requires me to send SNMP traps to a central console, and as such I have got W7, Windows XP and various switches and network devices all singing away nicely. All but the office Mac (Snow Leopard). I've been doing some digging, but end up going around in circles as to how I can get SNMP working on it and whilst the Apple support site says I can use OT/SNMP (available from the download centre) when I get there I can't find it. Is there anyone using SNMP on Macs who can help here?

Dos_Box Posted November 4, 2011 Author Posted November 4, 2011 Hi Andor, thanks for joining to reply to this thread as I'm sure it will be useful to many in the long run. I was looking to install/configure SNMP on the Mac client only (iMac) and have it send the traps to a Windows/Linux computer running SNMP monitoring software, and so far cannot find out how to install/activate SNMP on a Mac. Please note we do NOT have any Mac servers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
andor Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 I have some memories (I cannot exactly recall now) on how to activate the SNMP service in systems which do not have the "Services" control panel. I'm not at home now so I may check it tonight. Do you have, anyway, the snmpconf that generates the snmp config file?
