Create a soundboard

For a couple of drama productions they want some sound effects playing. Usually they burn them on CD and play that way, but it's not ideal. It's also not ideal just having the files on a PC where you need to double click and let media player open.

Is there any sort of template/create your own type soundboard I can use to embed audio files in that, and one click will play the file selected?

 

It'd be good if it was a sort of template or designer as the sound files may change over time so need to be updated

Show Cue System for theatre sound effects and music cues

They both look a little overkill for kids to use. I just wanted something very basic that would have buttons that you click on that play a sound file (much as the other soundboards on the internet). i dont have flash here so can't create it myself so wondered if there were any online ones i could do

Just the job - very good tool. Clean machine, no network access and no AV are the key.

I should have added....free too. The school will continue to use burned CDs if it means having to pay. This is only because I thought it might be easier for them to use this way, but if it requires paying or is too in depth I doubt they would go for it tbh

Here's a crazy and simple idea.

 

Make it into a Power point show.

 

Add some big easy buttons and as the action on clicking have them playing a sound.

 

Quick easy and free assuming you already have office.

 

Save it as a PPS or PPSX (Powerpoint show) and it will open right up as a full screen presentation.

 

Edit: or for $15 you could use this http://www.xnapid.com/node/1 which is probably inferior to the Powerpoint way anyway.

if you know any musicians you could probably borrow a sampler or, get a yamaha su200 on ebay for not much.

TBH most of the solutions would terrify a 13 year old girl in charge of it for a production where she used to just press play on a cd player.

I think the powerpoint idea will be easiest for them, as they can arrange pages for certain scenes etc.
