Like the majority, [YearJoinedInY7][First 5 Letters of Surname][initial]

 

If there is James Bloggs and John Bloggs in one year then James will be 08bloggsJ and John 08jbloggs

 

Staff are initial.surname, again of there are two staff members that are te same one will have initial.surname and the other [initial][surname]

we use school initials BHS (brighouse high school) + year of entry + Form + Last Name (+ if needed initial of first name)

Same here, that also helps the staff to distinguish their year group. We found that duplicates are minimal and if we get one we add a number on the end.

We use year of entry + form group intial + last 4 digits of admission number so all are unique.

 

for example if we have 11V0101

we do it like this

{[lastName][FirstNameInital][secondnameInital][YearOfIntake]}

e.g

BlogsJJ11

but i have also seen it done

{[FirstNameInital][secondnameInital][lastName][YearOfIntake/RandomNumber]}

xx intake year + first letter of firstname + first 5 letters of surname

 

We only just started using intake year on user accounts but the script that creates the accounts can handle duplicates anyway. it sticks a 1 or 2 etc at the end.

even with intake year there are occasions of pupils in the same year with the exact same name.
