When I looked at both DC's they were showing 2hours behind with every minute on the Notification area taking approx 25mins to update. I just noticed this software on the PDC that hold all the Domain Roles, anyone know anything about it.

Chuckster Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 I also had this issue and instantly changed my time source to uk.pool.ntp.org. You'll need to open up Registry Editor and navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\W32Time\Parameters You have to modify NtpServer and input your new time source. Davit2005 Posted October 20, 2011 Author Posted October 20, 2011 My main point was has anyone installed this on a DC, for what reason and are their any pitfalls (i.e. causing the issue I had). It took a restart of both DC's to sort things out. As they are virtual on ESXi I have limited access to the console (another inherited issue, an outside co installed the server and moved the DC's over).
Chuckster Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 The reason why your DC has the wrong time is because of it being hosted in ESXi. Your DC is picking its time from ESXi and as a result it is skewing your time by minutes (in your case 2 hours). This happened to me so by changing the registry bit and pointing my ESXi hosts to get its time from the DC, all was well again. RE Atomic Clock, you can give it a try but I've always believed in never to install any software whatsoever on either of my DCs. I'm very anal about that; it's a hassle you don't want should it or any other piece of software mess it up. 1
mattx Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 That software was installed on those servers for that very purpose to start with - one of the member servers was not keeping the correct time - the software was installed years ago and it never caused a problem. Obviously now they are all on ESXi the servers are picking the time from that. The company who migrated these over to VMs should have picked up on that really. 1

Don't worry I Was Refering to the many interfaces between chair and keyboard when I mentioned inheritance issues .

Not a problem - the main problems where you are certainly don't exist between your chair and keyboard, it certainly does stem from other chairs and keyboards though..... BTW - any dents in walls you come accross at head height were most probably made by me.....
