So this one has me foxed :confused: as I'm unable to open .pdf file via the internet. I can open them directly from the desktop or a networked drive, and they open in IE from our intranet fine but as soon as I try opening from the web I get Internet Explorer cannot display the Webpage. Clicking on more info says internet connectivity has been lost or the website is temporarily unavailable.

I've removed and reinstalled Adobe Reader X and reset IE settings. Other users of the machine can open online pdfs fine so it must be something with my profile.

Version 8 and running Win7 32 bit.

Backup anything in your own profile to a different location so desktop, my docs, favourites, if you use outlook then pst files etc etc. Log on as domain admin or local admin and rename your profile to something different and log back on as your normal name and put the data back.

We had this problem. If you open Adobe reader and go to:

Edit > Preferences > General

Untick "Enable Protected Mode at startup"

After I did that it solved the problem.

I also found the reg key:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Privileged]

"bProtectedMode"=dword:00000000

I had a similar problem with pupils unable to open PDFs from PowerPoint, it was being caused by the same setting, once the setting was unflagged it worked perfectly.

I found the solution (a group policy ADM Template) on an adobe forum.

Hope this helps
