CAT5E Prices

Just a quick question really.......

 

One of my corporate clients used to buy quite a lot of CAT5E from a certain online reseller and pay £4 for a 2m CAT5E cable?!?!?!?!?! And then they charged for shipping too!

 

The price shouldn't be anywhere near that so i'm charging a lot less than half of that. Just wondered if anyone had a similar experience?

PC World have 2m Cat5e for £9.99 and £12.99! Not that I ever shop there!

 

We have a QVS and on the very few occasions my huge box of wires fails me, I've got it from there for a couple of pounds

Just paid 0.83 + VAT for some 2m cables, 0.52 for 1m. Would never pay £4 for a 2m cable

Last time I bought patch leads I paid £0.45 for 0.5m £0.56 for 1m and £0.65 for 1.5m these were excel cat5e unbooted blue ones to be exact.

 

I only buy excel cables.

Don't have a cable certifier plus the time taken makes it easier and cheaper to buy pre-made ones.

Last lot of 0.5m ones we got were £0.35 each. Not significantly more for longer ones.

pre-made ones I am looking at around £0.35 for 0.5m. If I made my own I will use some out of my 300m drum which cost about £50 or so

95p for a 2m UTP cable with integrated boot. Add 32p for LS0H

£2.12 for Cat6

 

That's not to say there aren't patch leads more expensive than that, but they tend to be for places where you're plugging in thousands of devices and really want decent quality control.
