21st Century Science, PDFs and Foxit Reader

If anyone's familiar with 21st Century Science software from Oxford University Press, you'll know that it launches the default reader for PDFs linked to in the program.

 

But if you've got Foxit installed like we have, this causes a problem due to 21CS always passing a /s switch to the command, which Foxit doesn't handle. It seems 21CS just assumes it is Acrobat (which does handle the /s, whatever that actually does).

 

Short of putting Acrobloat Reader on the affected machines, does anyone else have a solution to this?

 

I'm currently thinking along the lines of replacing the Foxit Reader executable with a compiled AutoIt script - this will strip the parameters of the /s (if it exists) and then just run the proper exe with the original parameter. I'll update the thread if this works

Report it to OUP as they need to make there stuff generic, or post on the Foxit forums to solve a /S issue they will just add it in no doubt.

Yeah I've emailed OUP, hopefully they'll get back to me shortly. Foxit will be the next step, thanks

webman did you get any where with this? i have just install foxit as adobe 9 was a no got for the staff laptops

I'm afraid we took the easier option and rolled out Adobe Acrobat.

Sorted it, if you use the flash version on 21th Century is dose not work but if you use the html part it works fine.
