ZeroHour Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 What switches do you use? Does it work anywhere? Also double check the power mode used by the BIOS as it can power off the network cards which would prevent them seeing the traffic.
mrbios Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 (edited) On top of the above suggestions check your network card configuration, specificially the settings under "Advanced" tab on the device properties for your NIC Some various names WOL can come under: "Enable PME" "Shutdown Wake-on-lan" <- always hated the wording used of this one. and the obvious "wake on magic packet" etc settings Also you've probably checked this but the power management tab, make sure allow this device to wake the computer is ticked. Personally i have a problem where by if all the PCs on a vlan are shutdown i can't wake any, but as soon as one PC on a vlan is enabled i can then wake all the others on that vlan. Essentially my broadcast packets aren't getting routed by my core switch...a feature i only seem to be able to enable with the "premium" software which costs nigh on £2k ¬_¬ Edited October 10, 2011 by mrbios
russdev Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 (edited) Hello Katie I updated your ticket this morning as said in previous if you could please can you try the following tool (http://download.cnet.com/Wake-On-LAN/3000-2085_4-10486163.html) and try to wake an effected machine up using this tools does this 3rd party tool wake it up or not? Can you run the tool from save place as Impero server is installed on. If the 3rd party tools does not wake the machine up then issue with bios settings but we need to rule out bios settings before we can go any further.. Russell Edited October 10, 2011 by russdev

katie.lawe Posted October 20, 2011 Author Posted October 20, 2011 Fixed - I found that the computers didn't have the latest network controller driver installed and that they were just running the drivers windows 7 puts on. Also on a different motherboard the was an option in the advanced properties called shutdown wake up, this was disable. Thanks for everyone advice.
