WASD - Move

Space - Jump

Left Button - Fire

Right Button - Aim Down Sight

F - Melee Attack

G - Grenade

CTRL - Crouch

Z - Prone (Toggle)

Q (Enemy) - Spot (Press this when looking at an enemy to place a triangle over his head for the whole team. Press it too often in a short space of time and you just generate radio static).

Alt+Enter - Fullscreen/Windowed (Toggle)

Q (Friendly) - Bug team-mate under your sights with profanity filled yelling for ammo/health. Only works on Support for Ammo and Medic for Health. If they drop any...

Add attachments to guns such as Red Dort Sights in the Customise window when you are dead and waiting to respawn.

Inastalled the beta last night and will do gfx drivers when I get home. After some cooking with my nan I'll try and get a few games on later.

I understand we need each others soldier names?

I will more likely than not be Smelly_Llama

Does anyone have a link to a printable list of controls? I have died very swiftly and very horribly several times this lunchtime and feel I need to actually be able to move to achieve anything beyond making my monitor display various shades of red.

The tip I say is go Assault and then just spam throw the medic kit (hit 3) next to plays who are attacking until you get some unlocks.

If you have played BF2/BC2 then you will have a soldier already.

Thanks.

How you all likeing the game?

I'm enjoying it quite a lot. There seems to be a fair few bugs, but i've heard the beta is quite an old version so most of these have been fixed already. The only part I dislike and hope they adjust is the sniper scope reflection. It seems to much to me. It makes it fairly obvious where the sniper is compared to other classes which are much more invisable to detection. Do hope this gets changed a bit.

Aww dam. Whats your pc specs? Maybe you can get away with a cheapish upgrade and be able to play smootly on low - mid gfx settings?

AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+

4Gb DDR2 @ 888Mhz (I think)

Nvidia GTX280

30th Birthday in march so I think I'll have to wait until then for a cheeky upgrade or even a new rig. :(

Just to double check, you are running the beta nvidia drivers?

This vid shows its possible to play fine with the 280:

Battlefield 3 Open Beta - Gameplay [GTX 280, Phenom II X6 1055T] - YouTube

I'm not. Last night though, I did actually download the Beta for one last attempt at BF3 (I tried the alpha and that was painful enough!). It did tell me I had to DL the beta Nvidia drivers but the game loaded anyway and and with all settings on low, it did not actually play too badly. Smother then the Alpha, but still not amazing, and that was on a 32, not 64 man server!

It's more my CPU that lets me down now rather then the GPU. A cheeky quad core would make play a lot better I think. I'll play the Beta some more and make a judgement call at the end of the week.

The beta drivers give up to a 38% boost in performance in BF3 btw which is why they are recommending you run them.

Ohhh! Thanks ZH! I'll get updated in that case and try again!!!

Yeh I never tried with the non beta drivers as they promised a big boost, nvidia just couldnt get whql cert before the beta but the final signed drives should be out before the final game.

Had my first play the other night, looks pretty good. Bit of a 'richer' feel to it than the last one. Only had about 20 minutes on it, I'll be sure to add in on the platoon.

Would love to get into the action....

But my video card is not up to the beating it would take and I'm not likely to have the money to upgrade for a couple of months, at least :boom:

I got a 550ti for about £100, seems to do the job. Shot my self in the foot a little as I had a GTX295 before and it was about 200% quicker -_- nevermind! The 460 is still good for its money, even more so when you sli a pair of them. Quicker than some of the 580's even!

I just purchased a new PNY Geforce GTS 450 this weekend in an attempt to play battlfield 3 on a proper machine (not my ps3 or xbox) I had been rocking my old 9800GT for about 4 years on an old rig and never upgraded it when I built a new system last year -_-
