penfold Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 I have been asked to install active software on some latptops which are to be used to learn the software/practice on. We now have Active Inspire on our computers connected to the IWB but what (if any) software am I able to put onto our laptops. The disks I've been provided with are Active Studio and Active Primary but assume these disks have been kept from the original installation. The requirement is for the users to be able to familiarise themselves with the software and create resources which can then be used in the rooms with the IWB. Access to these rooms is limited to teaching and so laptops have been bought for the purpose of providing a mobile IT classroom, but as I'm installing the software I want to ensure I have the correct licencing. Can I just use the personal edition for this purpose?
cmssbrie Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Hi there. Inspire Personal edition would be absolutely fine for you to do this as it is free to download. In terms of numbers, Personal can go on any machine, and Pro can be activated on any machine that is connected to a Promethean board. Hope this helps! 1
penfold Posted September 23, 2011 Author Posted September 23, 2011 How do I download the personal Edition? I'm having a bad day and keep going back to the download which is asking for a valid key of the promethean board which seems to be for the full product. Any chance you could provide a link to the perosnal edition?
cmssbrie Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Hello, You need to be a registered member of Planet - which I assume you are. Make sure you are logged in, and then click here: English : ActivInspire : Software : Promethean Planet Then, click on the "download" button above the reccomended specs for your OS (so not touching the bottom of the page which is asking for the hardware or software serial numbers) That should then open up a questionaire for you to fill in, and once submitted, start the download. Hope this hleps! 1
penfold Posted September 23, 2011 Author Posted September 23, 2011 Sorry, my fault. I'm being a bit dense today. I didn't realise that the download was the same for the professional as the personal one. I just went through the questionaire and noticed it was talking about the proefessional version. I've since noticed it says you can use the personal one in the same download. Which I had noticed sooner!!!! Thanks again
Templar Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Hiya, wonder if you can help, I am participating in a tender where the buyer wants every IWB to come with a valid ActivInspire licence as this is what the Trust has standardised on, firstly can you tell me if the licence will work on a 3rd party IWB with full capabilities or do I have to run a cut down version? Secondly where would you recommend is the best place to source the licences if they will do what is required? Many thanks in advance.
cmssbrie Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 hello, Obviously our reccomendation would be that Inspire is used on a Promethean board - and with each Promethean board, a full version of Professional edition is provided. That said, there is also the personal edition of the software, which can be downloaded for free. In order to use Personal Edition (which does not have allthe functionality which is included in the "Pro" version) on a non Promethean board, you must apply for a "community license" - more information about this is available here: English : ActivInspire : Software : Promethean Planet (Also at that page should be the full licenses for Personal and Professional versions) You would need to do this for each individual non promethean board you wish to use it on. In terms of Professional Edition on non Promethean boards, I believe you would need to purchase individual copies of the software - which should be done via your local reseller of Promethean products (if you don;t have one, our Tech Support team would be able to help via Promethean KB). Hope this helps! 1
Gaz Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Sorry to hijack the thread but its kinda related. I uninstalled ActivInspire (professional) and reinstalled it but its now saying that it is the personal edition and I cant find anywhere to use my professional edition license key. How do I upgrade from the personal to the professional license
cmssbrie Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Hi, Not sure where you are seeing that it is the personal edition - is it when you start up Inspire? - If it is, there should be a place to enter the key in there. If you are taking it from the EULA in the "About" tab, that is the EULA for both Personal and Pro - the "Pro" Eula is underneath the personal one.
Gaz Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Thanks for replying, it has now changed back to saying Professional Edition. It was under "About" in the main ActivInspire program.
