We have an EES agreement and a new Mac suite, so we've downloaded the ISO from the Volume Licensing Service Center and deployed it using Apple Remote Desktop. Deployed fine, all great, done and dusted.... or so I thought.

Here is the problem..... on the VLSC is quite clearly states there is no product key required, yet when run on the macs i'm prompted to either:

1) Enter a product key

2) Buy a product key

3) Use it as a trail

Has anybody else had issues like this?

Did your Macs come with a trial copy of Office? It may be that the preferences still exist for it hence why it is prompting.

We to have ESS, and deployed 2011 a few months back. It all worked fine. The only thing we did on top was to set a preference to get rid of the "here is your office ID" and "do you want to keep up to date" messages.
