I'm currently looking to move back to portsmouth and need to find a job (i've already got accomodation sorted). I used to work for the city council in the school support team on the curriculum side (was involved in setting up about 6 or 7 new ict suites of win 2k3 server and xp).

At the moment I'm working in a primary school in kent but am coming to the end of the amount of things I can learn/be able to do within the school due to financial constraints, and also time constraints as they can't up my hours and realistically I need to find a full time job. I've got 2 years + experience of working in ICT support (I spent a year working in industry in london as part of my Computer Science degree). I'm not so good on SIMS but am learning all the time.

So if anyone hears of any posts coming up, could you possibly email me or pm me I'd be very greatful :D

At the mo, I'm checking all of the council and university websites and newspaper websites for that area, but nothing seems to be around.

Thanks,

Amy

That's my area too, and what you're seeing is right, it's a bare market at the moment.

I guess I'm reaching a similar situation to you at the moment, so I'm keeping a look out, but not finding much.

If I see anything (that I don't fancy myself :-P ) I'll let you know

Finding that too, in the same area and looking to move on upwards from my current post - but finding a very flat market - and indeed the amount of crap you seem to have to go through to get any educational it job seems silly

have looked at most websites re jobs but not found a thing :( have got friends working in the uni who are going to keep their eyes peeled for me but it really is a flat market at the mo. Am even having to consider moving back into industry but don't really want to do that...enjoy working in schools too much :)

Crikey..most of us here in portsmouth are trying to get out rather than back in :)

We recently had a vacancy for a techie, but it filled darned quickly (ironically enough by a guy who used to work for Team 17 on lemmings and the worms games :) )

arrgghh thats no good..are you sure they're not looking for someone else?? hee hee :)

and i know most people are trying to escape but somehow I just seem to keep going back there...must be mad!

I think I remember St lukes making a post on here a while back about a vacancy, dont know if they ever filled it. Other than that I will keep my eyes open :)

Well April is when Schools find out about their budgets. I think they are unlikely to look for more staff until they've figured out if they can afford them.

yeah true, so maybe towards the end of this term will be better for finding a new job? still not sure about going back into industry either, but there's not a lot of call for techs in industry at the mo either :(

There are loads of jobs available, but you seem to be restricting yourself to one specific geographical area which you will find hard to find a job in.

I'm restricting myself to one geographical area as i have already sorted accomodation out and I actually like that area, so i'm just waiting for the right job to come along. i have until august to find something :)
