mhussain Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Hi People i need to get staff to sign a Responsible Use Agreement. just wanted to know how you get the staff to do this and is there a way to do this as soon as staff log in?
DT2 Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 I'd setup a logon message using GPO - detailing acceptable/unauthorised use, I'd also back this up with a paper copy signed by the staff. Those that refuse to sign would just be restricted severely until they do so. I'm sure different network managers have their own methods, and will be happy to share them. Darren
GrumbleDook Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Responsible Use or Acceptable Use of technology, as a policy, is something that can be deemed as part of the employees' terms and conditions of work. The policy should be agreed by SLT and Governors and then this is backed up by staff signing to agree to it. This can lead to a world of problems for some folk in schools as some SLT /Governors like to slip in things that cannot be backed up by employment law or even good advice. The agreement on login (or periodically at login) should just be a reminder of what staff have already agreed to when they sign their contract with the school (which will have something in there about agreeing to abide by school policies and procedures as well as the laws of the land). A signature is always best ... after all, if you are getting people to agree to the AUP when signing in then there is nothing to stop them giving their password to someone else before they have agreed to the AUP. It is a bit like agreeing to an EULA before you even up up the pack ... and we all know what happened when software vendors started that.

Darren Hi Darren, Im looking at doing something similar to this (if not the same).... some message such as "by clicking Ok you are accepting blah blah as stated in the AUP blah" however I am having trouble locating this in GPO.....can give me (and others I would have thought) a pointer please? Many thanks Cookie
pete Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 In addition to Tony's points, I'd strongly suggest that the content is discussed at IT Group meetings (representatives from each Dept) so have the opportunity for input. Place a signed copy in their Personnel folder too.
Earthling Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 We get teaching staff to sign an AUP when they're issued with their laptop, otherwise there's a logon notice saying that by clickong OK they agree to the terms of the AUP etc etc, and that copies of the AUP are available from all good retail outlets. No....wait....are available from Reception and are posted in all computer rooms.

fiza Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Have you looked at this old thread EduGeek AUP Informant I dont think its available anymore from its source but we use it and it works a treat. It just reminds everyone every year what they have signed up to. It wont let them login unless they click "accept". Shame its not being developed any longer.
