JoeBloggs Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Hi there, My friend has asked me if I would set up an e-shop selling supplements and such. I can do websites etc easily enough, but I have never set up a set for purchasing etc as I am sure there are a lot of security implications. He's asked me to create the website for him, but to be honest I would rather someone else did it for a reasonable price then just supported him if he had any future problems. So wondering if any Edugeek'ers may be up for this - I am yet to get a budget from him but probably the cheaper the better. Also what would be the best way to go regarding this? E-cart through installatron or something? Paypal? (anything cheaper for the seller?) I created a website for a charity in Joomla! - but was hacked a few times while I was on holiday so not to keen on using this but I can do HTML/CSS easy enough. Anyway any information will be much appreciated.
rush_tech Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Prestashop and opencart will have you up and running in no time and are free and supported. As long as you keep the site up to date with any security patches that are released. Paypal would probable be the best method of payment initially
EduTech Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 I have used CubeCart in the past and setup various E-Commerce Stores based on this software. Many of them come with Payment Gateways which make the purchasing simple. If you activate Card Payments make sure you have an SSL Certificate. Let me know if i can be of any help, James. 1

I have built Opencart sites before and they quite straightforward (once you read about it a bit) to create. If you would like to chat about it more give me a PM/reply, no pressure! Jon I forgot to say that Opencart has functionality for SSL but you will need to purchase/register a SSL certificate in the name of the site owner (unless it has changed since I last did an open cart site) as they are obviously not included in the free OC open source code d/l Edited August 31, 2011 by JonTorbitt distracted watching a film! 1
