The Register And after a quick at Scan it appears that RAM is now stupidly cheap and is apparently going to get cheaper. As an example here is the page for DDR3 1333: Scan.co.uk: 240 pin Single/Dual Channel - (1333Mhz) Now may be the time to hit the bursar for the opportunity for an unexpected hardware upgrade to your PC's should they need it. Almost all of my computers at home now have 8GB RAM, with one having 16GB. Misco got 4GB DDR3 starting at less than £11.. just.. crazy(!) If 4GB DDR3 DIMMs drop to about £5 or so, no one is going to upgrading their computers for a very long time. I would love to be able to build a Mini-ITX PC with 16GB RAM, but 8GB DDR3 DIMMs are still rather expensive: £240 (DIMM) and £290 (SO-DIMM). Considering you can buy 8GB registered ECC DDR3 DIMMs for ~£56 this doesn't make a lot of sense.

I have that feeling, built my new rig the other week the good 8GB DDR3 ram I got (2x 4GB sticks) is now £32 cheaper for the set, so may get that once it seems to stop falling then I can have the 16gb I want. Also think my Virtualisation boxes will get there ram doubled in them as the ram I found last night for them is now so cheap we can have 40 or 50GB of ram in them for very good money!

Arthur Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 ^ If you were going to buy one of those, you might as as well get one which receives FreeView HD (and optionally FreeSat HD). e.g. BGT3620 (dual DVB-T/T2 tuners), BGT3630 (DVB-T/T2 and DVB-S/S2), BGT3650 (quad DVB-T/T2 tuners).
Gatt Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 TBH, the Tiuner is only a cheapy (£22) from Wilko (AVerMedia AVerTV Global - TV Tuners, Media Player, IPTV and Multimedia Products - AVerTV Volar Green HD (Western European Region Only)) - spur of the moment decision. It actually works really well on Win7 - Plug it in and it finds the driver (even in x64!) and I can either use the supplied software or use MCE.. For some reason despite the driver installing ok in x64, it fails to get any signal at all...
