Just installed Win7 on my main work machine.

Added it to the domain.

Tried to install office 2007, it fails with error 1237 Invalid drive (N:\)

Which is my network home area.

Any ideas?

best bet would have to installed it prior to joining the domain. Not something I have come across. I take it the N: reference that you are an RM CC3/CC4 network? There has to be something in the main .msi which keeps referring to C:\windows\user\docs and the pc is now set to N:\ blah etc (could be the templates, local settings etc). I know that RM charge you for a CC3/CC4 ready package (£200 I was told.) and that the package creation tools they sell to create your own packages do not cut the mustard :(

£200?

Try setting up a new share on your server, then create a new admin installation of Office 2010. You may as well include Service Pack 1, then try installing it across your workstations.

Thanks guys.

I had a problem with another bit of software too so did some more general googling and it seems it's to do with the user's shell folders. i changed them in the registry to all be local and the installs worked fine. i've then changed them back to N:\

Awkward but i've exported a copy of each set of reg settings, so i can switch relatively easily.
