Bruce123 Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 We came to renew our annual license for all our MS Server/Desktop software and was surprised to learn that the cost had shot up by 60% over last year's. Apparently, this is due to a change to the requirements of the agreement that we were we have been subscribed to. In order to meet the new requirements there needs to be at least 1,000 staff employed at our FE College (which we don't have so the new quote is based on a different volume licnese agreement, which turns out to be a lot more expensive (for us anyway). Out of interest, has anyone else experinced this? Regards, Bruce. Leeds, UK.
Sylv3r Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Is this the new EES licence agreement? In the main from what I have heard it has reduced costs for schools it certainly did for us anyway.
Millgate Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Hi Bruce, I'm unsure what agreement you had before. Was it a schools agreement or some kind of select??? There are stacks of different kinds but the EES (if that's what you've been quoted) shouldn't be more expensive. If you have any info such as your agreement number, email it over to me along with which college you are and I'll get to the bottom of it for you. Hope this helps Cheers Luke
RTFM Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Our EES was much cheaper than standard licensing. We got our EES organised through Luke so can't hurt to get a quote and then you can know for sure what the situation is
eddyc Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 EES worked out to be around a third of the old licensing agreement. I suppose it would depend upon how many machines you have vs how many FTE's you have - to work out which is most cost effective for you.
