JJonas Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Maybe we can get some better service coverage BBC News - BBC to survey UK mobile coverage
sted Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 installed it this morning. My issue is that on this and previous phone it says i have a 3g(or whatever signal) but as soon as i try to surf in it i get cant find gateway and other messages or have to load a page 10 times to get it so even though there is a signal its about as much use a chocalate "orange" teapot. Take this morning at home said i had 3g but it wouldnt update facebook app until i turned on wifi download just stalled
SmellyLlama Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Looks good, I would imagine the survey will paint a very different picture than the telecom companies 'estimated' coverage. For example there are many black spots in our town and the surrounding areas, not just for 3G but total signal loss. Hope someone is making an iPhone app too.
AngryTechnician Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 (edited) Since BBC were too lazy/ignorant to include a QR link to the app, here it is: http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?cht=qr&chs=120x120&chl=market%3A%2F%2Fdetails%3Fid%3Dcom.epitiro.uk3g Have installed it myself, not having any problems as a result. CAM Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Does it use a lot of data? I have a limited amount each month.
Chris-W- Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 I've been using it for a couple of days, the data usage in minimal. Maybe 2MB a day. Location isnt that great though, it estimates your location within about 1000m unless you give it GPS access.

penfold Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Anyone else had a couple of errors prompting me to force close the application? Installed it yesterday and had it twice now.
Andrew_C Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 I've noticed a few odd bleeps from the phone, and it seems to be re-starting when I look. Not sure if this app is to blame though.
Chris-W- Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Not had any errors or unreasonable battery usage from the app. Then again it has a hard time sending any data at all with the signal levels where I live

Chris-W- Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Trying to find 3G/switching between 2G and 3G I think is the most power consuming, and I dont get 3G lol. I guess it also depends on the phone.
AngryTechnician Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Results of this were published today: BBC News - UK mobile coverage map Nice little square sitting over my office showing how I don't get 3G indoors! 1
