mikeymike Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Hi, having been out this game for a while, i now have regular time to maintain our schools small network. So i need a list of regular jobs to do or to check to give to my manager so i can keep my allotted time going. eg updates checking internet history monitoring print jobs so if you can add to this list it would be much appreciated.
Dom_ Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Assuming you're a primary school? Add checking backups, cleaning projectors (+filters), printer maintenance, software installations and research to your list
mikeymike Posted July 6, 2011 Author Posted July 6, 2011 Assuming you're a primary school? Add checking backups, cleaning projectors (+filters), printer maintenance, software installations and research to your list sorry forgot to mention that. we are a small private school of roughly 50 students and similar staffing, from year 5 upto year 11.
steve Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Hi, eg updates checking internet history monitoring print jobs AV updates / status if monitored centrally physically check all computers for damage / missing parts / unreported issues physically check servers / aircon / switches for warning lights + check temps + unusual noises server event logs server disk space stock levels (toners etc.) loan equipment check (all accounted for) meet with key staff to discuss any issues / developments (head of IT / line manager) review of previous weeks / months issues - any patterns? (easier if you have some help desk software) edusweep users folders to check for inappropriate files update website / intranet train staff assist in classrooms
CESIL Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Only 50 students across 6 year groups...what do you do all day
