[sccm 2007] Task Sequence DVD Media Fails

This is driving me nuts!

 

I am trying to create a DVD set for our staff laptops so that they can be rebuilt without needing to be connected to the network to do it

I have created the ISOs (2 x dvd size) and burnt them to disk

I take them to the laptop and insert Disc 1, it boots, find the Task Sequence and starts wiping the C: Drive - So far so good..

Next t asks for Disk 2.. So i insert Disc 2..

It then asks for Disc 1 again as soon as it reads Disc 2.. Hmmm..

So I put Disc 1 in again..

 

It then bombs out with error 0x80040005

 

I copied the log file (attached) and had a look at it in Trace32.. It came up with:

So, for some reason it cannot open my install.wim file...

 

The same TS runs fine via PXE boot

It also runs fine, in VM, if creaed as a single 8GB (DL DVD) Iso..

 

So it appears to be an issue with it being split into 2 DVDs..

 

I dont really want to invest in more DL DVDs if I can help it when I have loads of normal DVDs lying around....

8 gig flash drives now under £10 - might be the simplest way round it.

The image is just under 8.5GB (it just fits onto a Dual Layer disk) so It'll need to be a 16Gig USB Key..

I'd rather stick with ISO's as at least when the teacher loses the disk, I can easily reburn the DVDs

 

Need to look at my TS anyway as Adobe failed due to the config file wanting access to the Network

I had an issue with the antivirus kicking in when creating a TS media ISO. It completed ok but had files missing.

Which Anti Virus - I've tried with both McAfee and Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010

Sophos. It detected suspicious behavior. I disabled it and It created the ISO fine.
