Hi all,

Our schools head of D&T has come to me raving about Space Claim 3D after he saw a demonstration. I have downloaded and installed a trial and he is extremely pleased with it.

Its kind of like Google Sketchup, in that you can drar/grab/pull shapes, but for engineering.

it is considerably cheaper than Autodesk which is costing us a fortune, so we are looking at moving over the SpaceClaim.

Has anyone got any experience of installing this on a school network? Can the installation be automated using as MSI etc?

We are looking at a 60 user floating license, does this require a license server to be installed?

Thanks all!

We currently use Spaceclaim and yes it is a great package, students like it and staff have taken to it well. We have tried to package it and roll it out via MSI but with no success. When contacting spaceclaim in California they have advised that it will not install over a network. We have setup the "floating user license" but this again requires a per machine installation.

We decided to install on specific machines rather than all.

We're using SpaceClaim 2011+ and was told the same about rolling it out over a network but have managed to do it using a batch file in group policy and adding licence server details in the environment variables that i also deployed using group policy.

I don't suppose you are using keyshot with spaceclaim?
