AlfaTech Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Anyone else got Zelda - Ocarina of Time 3D for their Nintendo 3DS? Anyone else even got a 3DS? Stop the press. This has got to be simply the best game ever for a handheld console. Its a faithful reproduction of the original N64 game, but has been enhanced in such a way that it looks simply stunning in true (glassesless) 3D. The depth perception is simply staggering and the way things seem to protrude out of the screen is amazing to say the least. If you like the Zelda series then you'll absolutely love this, if you haven't played Zelda or don't even have a 3DS then this game alone is reason enough to go out and buy one. 3D is the way forward, this is gaming evolved!
Rawns Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Not got a 3DS but I used to LOVE this on the N64! I remember the 10 chain quest you had to do in order to get the huge 2 handed sword! Loved it!
kevbaz Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 my eyes burn looking at the 3ds screen, horrifc technology..
K.C.Leblanc Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 I need to dust off my old N64, it was a great game. I tried it on Project 64, but it didn't work very well with a keyboard.

AlfaTech Posted June 28, 2011 Author Posted June 28, 2011 Hmm. There must be some subtle differences between the N64 and 3DS versions then, I didn't have to do a quest to get the double-handed sword - I brought it for 200 rupees off a giant Goron. Zelda OoT 3D also has the legendary 'Master Quest' available once you've completed the game first time. But I've not yet got that far yet.

Sounds like they've dumbed it down I loved the idea of the 3DS and was excited for it's release, but the moment I picked one up, I felt sick. Literally. I just cannot focus on the screen (unless I turn the 3D off, but then what's the point?). I also get splitting headaches if I watch 3D with glasses for more than 30 minutes at a time. For me at least, 3D has a long way to go before I'll adopt it. I can only speculate that my vision is slightly off and that 3D enhances that defect causing my headaches. I have no evidence but I'm a geek and therefore I must try to explain
K.C.Leblanc Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 I brought it for 200 rupees off a giant Goron. Have you tried it, I think the one from the giant Goron is a fake. It'll break.
AlfaTech Posted June 28, 2011 Author Posted June 28, 2011 What!!! He ripped me off?!! Grr. Damn Gorons can't trust 'em as far as you can roll 'em. LoL Well what can I say, I guess 3D isn't for everyone - I've played my 3DS for hours without any side effects. Granted, you ought to start off with the 3D turned down to a comfortable level when you first start using it to let your eyes adjust.
LiamH Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 If i remember right the one you have is the giants knife, which does more damage but breaks almost straight away, wasn't there a quest to get it fixed?
jamesrobinson Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 dusted off my nintendo64 and got playing this again, such an amazing game for its time. and having it wired in on my 55 inch tv makes it all the better, you can keep your 3ds, lets go old school.
AlfaTech Posted June 29, 2011 Author Posted June 29, 2011 LOL Good on you. I never had an N64 (my last static-console was a SNES) so now I get to play all these games I missed out on - and in glorious face-slapping 3D. I can't wait for Star Fox 64 (Lylat Wars) 3D to come out later in the year, that will be out-of-this-world.

Wii + Gamecube re-release [Ocarina + Majora's mask + gameboy LoZ] = Win
jamesrobinson Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Wii + Gamecube re-release [Ocarina + Majora's mask + gameboy LoZ] = Win i did like majoras mask dont get me wrong but nothing up to ocarina of time. never even finished majoras mask hurt my head too much
X-13 Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 OoT was, and still is, awesome. Although, I think I only ever managed to get up to the forest temple. Then I'd get bored and play something else. May re-re-re-start it. As well as Arkham Asylum... I still haven't finished the extreme difficulty yet.[/off-topic]
jamesrobinson Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 OoT completed too many times one of them games i could never get bored of it. Majoras mask was just silly going back and forth the 3 days you had to complete it, messed with my head a little might explain why why i get constant headaches. [/off-topic] arkham is a good game but only rented it and finished within a few days.
CAM Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 I remember the gameboy Zelda. Grind cash until you hit the cap to buy a shovel and progress through the game or steal it when the shopkeeper isn't looking and have your name changed to "thief" permanently. And he hits you with lightning bolts if you walk back inside.
Flakes Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 dont forget to add this to your school block list Play Legend of Zelda, The – Link’s Awakening DX (U) Online | Nintendo Game Boy Online
AlfaTech Posted June 29, 2011 Author Posted June 29, 2011 dont forget to add this to your school block list Play Legend of Zelda, The – Link’s Awakening DX (U) Online | Nintendo Game Boy Online Funnily enough this is one of the games that is available to download from the e-Shop for the 3DS Virtual Console. But I've got my hands full with Zelda: OoT (3DS) and Zelda: Spirit Tracks (DS) first though.
sonofsanta Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Ocarina of Time is still my favourite game ever. Cliché, but there it is. I have it on my N64 still, I have it on the Gamecube disc, but I know I will end up getting a 3DS at some point and buying it. The best bit of Majora's Mask was the end. A complete wtf moment when you finally go into the moon... just superb.
