NT4 server talking to Excange 2003 Server

Hi guys,

 

I'm setting up a new Exchange 2003 Enterprise Server for the staff. I've got the Admin staff on an NT4 server and everyone else on a 2003 Server. Is there any way of allowing the NT4 Users to be able to use the Exchange Server, or will I have to put them all onto the 2003 Server? I hope not!!!

Would they not need accounts in AD though because of all the object related stuff?

Why not take this opportunity to upgrade the NT4 network if possible?

I assume you're talking about a seperate Windows NT 4 domain?

 

Long Answer:

"Exchange 2003 requires its users to have Active Directory accounts homed in a domain in the same forest as Exchange 2003 itself."

 

Short Answer:

"No."

 

You could, of course, give them accounts on the Windows 2003 network and let them use Outlook Web Access to talk to their mailbox.

Just another thought (I'm with roberto on this one - as I'm gonna be doing the same thing most likely) but have you got the 2003 domain running in a mode where it can see/talk to older domains?

Set up the accounts on the mail server then use POP or Outlook Web Access, or, and here's a thought, upgrade your redundent, dangerous and out of date network and join the 21st century!
