Server 2k8 R2

Hi Guys

 

I have a Xeon 64 bit Server here, I know it's 64 bit as I've had the 64bit CentOS OS Installed onto it, however I want to use it for exchange so I've put the Windows 2008 R2 Disc in and I'm getting errors on screen saying

 

"Attempting to load a 64-bit application, however this CPU is not compatible with 64bit mode"

 

 

Doe anybody know whats going on ???

Have you checked that EM64T extensions are enabled in the BIOS?

Have looked but the BIOS is very limited basic CPU info n there but no toptions to change anything but boot order.

May not be the best idea, have you tried booting the disc from an external cd drive instead of an internal one or are you doing that already?

What make/model is the server or which Xeon processor/chipset does it have?

We would need to know the make\model of the server?

 

I know on some older ProLiant DL380 Servers you have to enable the 64-bit options in the System ROM (BIOS)

You have enable it in two places to, however if you goodle "edugeek 64bit HP DL380" it links you to a guide I think.
