Gatt Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 It would appear that the school I work at has been given the go ahead for a new build! Moorside High School - New School
beeswax Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 (edited) So if I read this right, Moorside and Swinton aren't going to merge? If so I think they've made a sensible decision. Edited June 11, 2011 by beeswax another typo
Guest Guest Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 Very 60s. I thought they had stopped with the whole idea of building a trendy looking school and were just going for functional? I wish they stop with the flat roofs and overhanging 1st floors, they didn't work in the past andd I can't see them working now. Good to see you are getting a new school - we are just waiting for the call too.
rad Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 The flat tin roofs are great fun when it is raining hard. Lets just hope they build it properly and not go for the cheapest....
irsprint84 Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 It looks like its going to be like all the other crap builds around broughton
MK-2 Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 The new build will contain some very advanced ICT infrastructure Cybernetically enhanced monkey teachers? Cos if it's not that I'm guessing they mean CAT6,fibre runs and a few interactive whiteboards
localzuk Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 From those photos/designs, I don't think that building will age well. Hope it goes well though!
bossman Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 The new build will contain some very advanced ICT infrastructure Wireless throughout with laptops and Ipads plus IWBs (very 21st century) and open plan spaces for enhanced teaching and learning hehe! All attached to the "cloud" which will be managed by the LA's managed service team as cheaply and ineffectual as possible so that the ICT becomes a joke rather than an enhancement to the school. Good luck Gatt
sted Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Cybernetically enhanced monkey teachers? Cos if it's not that I'm guessing they mean CAT6,fibre runs and a few interactive whiteboards more likely no cables and entirely wireless as thats the future cables or so last century
Gatt Posted June 13, 2011 Author Posted June 13, 2011 I'd like to see ome Isolinear circuitry and bio-neural gel packs, with the staf all wandering around with Comm Badges... /dreamworld The big issue for me is whether they will move to CC4 or stay on the Gatt Industries Network System ® © (aka Vanilla Network) Quick chat with the HT reveals he'd prefer the latter -

This is brand new, only opened last year and it looks terrible http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_w7dtjGHRWSo/SbFf0J5PGBI/AAAAAAAAACs/OcDk1l1U2rg/s1600/Middles2edit.jpg It's a college btw. Its right on the docks so it just looks like they are dismantling a rig or aircraft carrier or something. It certainly isn't pretty by any stretch... Edited June 13, 2011 by Guest

HaleStorm Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 that does just look like the superstructure of some old warship!
sted Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Wow, that's just awful! i actually quite like that and at least its distinctive
Gatt Posted June 13, 2011 Author Posted June 13, 2011 Looks a bit like the Citadel from HL2 on its side...
TechMonkey Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Good luck Gatt, remember stick your oar in early and don't assume anything. They will forget about services, they will forget you need power & they will forget to provide for future expansion or access after they have left. Any other pics of that College or which one it is? I think I quite like it but more angles may decide it.
HaleStorm Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 make sure your server room has air-con and your office has an outside window....we only got the aircon going to order a 42" tv and put "scenes thorugh a window on it" so i dont get cabin fever
bossman Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 I'd like to see ome Isolinear circuitry and bio-neural gel packs, with the staf all wandering around with Comm Badges... The Comms badges we can do as they rely on Cisco protocols and the CC4 works very well with the Isolinear circuitry and bio-neural gel packs but it can't handle the mapping of printers through the software and the users profile (Scotties working on this at the moment) will let you know for the future if the control of the Turbo lifts has been sorted so the staff and students can get to where they need much quicker. 1

Make sure the site-site transporters are configured only for use by ICT Staff only.. any word on the Holodecks and replicators?
