kennysarmy Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Just installed FreeMind and when I try to close it logged on as a teacher/pupil it won't Fine for Administrators. Anyone had the same?
kmount Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Hi, Yes, this tends to happen when the user cannot write to the desktop. Create a ".freemind" directory (by all means hide it) on the desktop and that should nip it in the bud. I forget if I had to set any permissions on the folder but it's a step in the right direction, I used procmon to find the failing call.

timlineuk Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Yep - i've tried the previous off creating the .freemind folder but it wont let me create with a '.' in front of it. I'm possibly being a muppet - i'm doing a load of summer hols image prep and it's melting my brain

kmount Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Hm, that fixed it for me. Oh, is your redirected desktop \\fileserver\desktop$ or \\fileserver\shares$\desktop? (if the latter, you might need to make the .freemind directory in the root of the share)

kmount Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Ok, but surely not just to \\yourdomain\sysvol, most likely \\yourdomain\sysvol\desktop_or_something ?? (in that case you might need the .freemind dir in the sysvol share itself)
timlineuk Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 ah gotcha, sorry, yes "\\dc\sysvol\domain\Common Folders\Desktops. I noticed that the .freemind folder was in the root of the users profile, so i also copied that folder to the shared profile in sysvol... tested again but still no luck
