No worriess he has an ipad now. it can do everytthhiiiingg. I bet it has an app to sort out his kidney problem..

In seriousness its quite scary the extreme measures some people will go. I remember reading about a lady who had sex for world of warcraft gold. To me thats crazy aswell. If i knew this boy and he was that desperate i would of bought him an ipad myself and slapped him around the head with it and tell him to try and get on a website that uses flash. Crazy crazy kid.

Hope his health is going to be ok.

I think the length some people go to for Apple kit is ludicrous. People who do this sort of thing are clearly not fit to own electronic products, nor should they be allowed outside without supervision. Chinese people have their own laws anyway thanks to their moronic government but across the board, when I see people lining up outside Apple stores to get the latest iCrap I laugh. Lots. Brand loyalty is one thing but treating it like a religion is just stupidity, and in the same way people are often bitten by their faith in the mighty Jobsian empire too.

"This is a failure of education, the first purpose of which is to 'propagate morality'," said one comment on Hong Kong's Phoenix TV website, "This teenager's stupid behaviour is a manifestation of his radically materialistic values." "To sell a kidney in order to buy consumer goods? What vanity!" added another, "It is undeniable that modern Chinese teenagers' morality is declining. This is something we must all think about."

Apple products like the iPhone and the iPad are in huge demand in China, and are seen as a badge of wealth and sophistication by young consumers.

lol Arthur :D

Besides which you know full well the iPad he's bought is fake - there's no way you can get it with the cost of just 1 kidney, everyone knows Apple kit costs an arm and a leg.

this is a sad modern culture...gudgets and money are more important than health or love or parents....thats terrible..

Now this is similar to a conversation I had at the weekend. My girlfriend complains about computers ruining kids these days and that playing games instead of being outside is a problem. My dad was also saying not to use XBOX live because of the stories/lies that were being passed around. Now while some of this is true, I had to argue the point that it isn't down new technologies being evil and corrupting people, it's more down to parents not parenting and allowing their kids to grow up without actually being taught anything. When I was young it was TV and films to blame why kids were growing up bad and now it's computer games. It's just a blame culture so bad parents can feel good about not giving a monkeys about what their kids are doing.

It's just really sad to see what people will do and then blame technology for turning apparently sane people into wierdo's. But as the article says, this is a failure of education. It's just a shame that he wasn't able to talk to his parents about what he was willing to do to get a device for maybe a couple of years and then maybe they could have intervened.

But then I'm glad I was brought up to think that if I didn't have any money for something, I didn't buy it.
