Hi,

I am setting up a brand new Server 2008 R2 domain. The old domain is running Server 2003.

Does anyone know any tools apart from this that will allow me to migrate user accounts and passwords to the new domain please?

Failing that i will export all users from one domain and import into the new one and reset passwords.

Thanks

You could add the 2008 server into you old domain - replicate the accounts etc (leave overnight). Then demote your 2003 servers, upgrade the domain functional levels (assuming you are removing the 2003 servers completely) then move the users home dirs and other info onto your new servers.

Why don't you add the 2008 R2 server to your current domain using dcpromo and then demote the 2003 server? You could then raise your domain functional level to be 2008. Or is there a major reason for being a whole new domain?

You won't find any free ones. What's wrong with ADMT?

Its being a pain with me, Just want to see what else it out there.

I am aware on how to upgrade active directory (done it many times). But current domain is in a 2003 forest. We want to pull out of the forest and make our own standalone domain.

Sorry @FN-GM , wasn't suggesting you didn't know how to do it. I just thought it would be an easy way to migrate. Looks like you might be stuck with ADMT, I know of nothing else that will do the job

I wasnt have a pop promise, didnt mean to sound blunt.

Just installed ADMT and i get an error when i run it.
