iSteve Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Hello, We have a load of Polyvision eno boards in our school, and a load of Macs. The boards work fine with the basic pen / drawing tools, however, I am trying to research what software is available to allow teachers to author snazzy content for the boards. What do you use? Do you just use PowerPoint? What's the best way to create content rather than handing over hundreds of pounds to Boardworks, per subject? Any steering in the right direction on this would be greatly appreciated.
glennda Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 possibly active inspire which is the promethean software although you will need to check licensing around it. its not hundreds of £ per subject its more thousands isn't it!
Netman Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Haven't got around to using it in anger yet, but Sankore is open source and looks very nice. It's available for the Mac too... Sankoré
MacGeek Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 We use Promethean ActivInspire. Its free it you have any of their hardware, we have 102 ActivBoards. As for the resource packs per subject there are a lot cheaper and better alternatives out there. Thats if you need them at all. The IWB themselves are excellent and the educational warranty include replacing the projector bulbs. Only problem is the frequent updates seem to fix one thing and break two others. The ActivManager (drivers etc) software is better than the old collection of drivers.
iSteve Posted June 2, 2011 Author Posted June 2, 2011 Thanks guys. We had Wizteach but it was the Windows version supplied with the boards. I contacted their support and they said that the codes would work with the Mac version, we'd just need to download it.
