Does Windows attempt to resolve hidden shortcuts?

Say I have a Global Start Menu that gets copied down to machines.

And let's assume I don't want to maintain a series of Start Menus with all possible room / software combinations.

If I set the hidden attribute for any unresolvable shortcut pointing to a local file, will Windows attempt to resolve these hidden shortcuts, or ignore them when displaying the Start Menu?

(it would be a post-copy script)

I have a hidden shortcut for our Pos Tills and the software runs quite happily. That is to say the software IS installed and the system knows to run the software even though the shortcut is hidden [local user logging on]
