I would keep it separate and just put a link from the VFM thread to this one ... this is the next step ... and an important one at that. DfE are still building on things from Becta (oh ... and Becta were so bad they had to be scrapped!) and it does fit in with the work on Academies and Free Schools.

We've just had this come down to us in Powys. We are no longer allowed to go directly to suppliers not on the framework lists, if the value is over 30k, and even then we need to use a special code with that supplier to get a county/DfE discount.

We are also only allowed to use the County's Leasing Company, and that leases can only now be 4 years or less.

We have come to the end of our current 5 year RM lease (April anyhow), and need to replace stuff, so doing everything on a shoe string as usual, managed to get a good deal with RM, but county have thrown the 3 Framework quotes at us, we had 3 quotes from our usual suppliers, but they didn't use the framework code (as 1 was on the framework list) or weren't on the framework list to begin with.

Hopefully we'll get everything in place for the end of the Month so we can meet RM's deal deadline :ballchain:

Is that because it is possible to get on the framework without any software?

That is one aspect. Another is some of the requirements, particularly mandatory ones, that while definitely important, I cannot help think have been included to cover 'loopholes' recently exposed.

Definitely comprehensive and I think this is a great opportunity to move the sector forwards.

What are your thoughts Phil??

Bidders can be disqualified if they reveal the content of the tender documents so I am very limited in what I can say.

Understand; I'm only asking your opinion on the overall positioning on the process and eventual framework in the marketplace... certainly not answers to the specific questions!

Yes I believe you have to be a UK school, unfortunately Vikpaw.

I might try and apply, surely, it's just a tool for comparing, the business at the end goes to the company and helps their exports. Anyway, i'm reading the frameworks, very useful.
