Staff + New Laptops = web cams and biometrics

Got new laptops for staff members..

do you?

A: Reinstall the OS and not install the webcam and biometrics.

B: Reinstall the OS and install the webcam and biometrics.

 

just i cant be asked with staff wanting to use skype coz it has a webcam and set up the

biometrics.

I'd always install the webcam, can be useful for more than just skype... I'd skip the biometrics though :-)

Yep, leave the webcam and tell them you can access it remotely. Forget the biometrics.

Me too - I'd set it up, especially if the laptops were holding confidential data.

I wouldn't bother with the biometrics, I tried setting it up with one of our staff members but gave up in the end - all I got was complaints about how it took her 5+ attempts to login etc etc

 

It can also be a little insecure as someone could register some of their own fingers in some positions along with anyone elses in the other positions and still link them to the same account.

Skype is not supported and wont be installed, buy your own laptop if you want one for personal use.

Install all the drivers but skip the biometrics app, TBH the sensors very insecure and there was even an article a while back about a group of high school students using the gumy bear method and a teachers mug to bypass it.
