SP1 deployment via WSUS

Hello,

 

We had heard about the problems with deploying SP1 for windows 7 via wsus when it was first released. Does anybody know if it is safe to deploy it in this way now?

I'm still holding off on this but I have taken the leap to deploy IE9 through WSUS albeit only to a test lab

This worked fine for me, as the PCs are kept up to thanks to WSUS the SP1 update is quite quick.

yup it's perfectly safe. I updated over 200 computers this way. Deployed it one evening within a few days 95% of the computers had updated! Painless experience

I've decided to completely avoid the hassle altogether, we're replacing nigh on 200 PCs this summer so i'm making a fresh new image with the SP and WUs pre installed the other 350 i'll do on a rolling basis as they're replaced/reimaged etc. Luckily it's no where near as important as XP service packs were (in that they stopped a lot of virus problems) so im being fairly relaxed with it
