Resource Booking / Scheduling

Hi All,

 

I am currently looking for a single and complete resource booking system for use within our Sixth Form College. I don't really need it for classroom / lesson scheduling. It will mainly be used for things such as......

 

- Conference Rooms / AV Suites

- Sports Pitches (Football / Rugby / Cricket / Swimming Pool etc)

- Transport Bookings (Minibuses / People Carriers etc)

 

We will be booking facilities by different categories (eg Thrid Party / Academic / Sports etc)

 

Ideally the app will be web based (sit on IIS) and integrate with Active Directory for permissions / user names / transparent authentication etc. It shoudl also allow us to filter by various parameters to show specific type / locations etc of events.

 

We currently use a series of Exchange Public folders accessed via Outlook, but we have too many events and too many calendars to make this feasible moving forward, there are also issues with colour categories between users etc.

 

Any advice would be massively appreciated.

If you're running Exchange 2007, you can set up mailboxes/accounts for objects which need to be booked. Might be worth looking at that?

 

Alternatively, you might be able to set something up using Windows SharePoint Services.

MRBS should do all of this. You might find it easiest to do a couple of installations side-by-side if you need more levels of organisation than just areas, or if you want to give different groups different access to different areas. There are a number of users on these forums, and the support on the mrbs mailing list is brilliant.

We use SchoolBooking Room & Resource Booking system

We evaluated it for quite a while before purchasing and got great feedback from staff. Now use it for bookings of rooms (classrooms, hall, courts), resources (cameras, laptop trolleys - staff can book a specific amount of laptops too) and are probably going to use it for lets after school too.

Another vote for MRBS from me. Links to AD for shared authentication. All in php so easily customisable. Very solid community support.
