free870 Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Hi i have a XP machine with Smart 10 installed. On logon for all users it pops up with a message the the lower right of the screen saying there is a firmware update avaliable. When you click on it it offers to download it and install it. Anybody know if there is a way of hiding/disabling this message?

FN-GM Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Could you just not install the firmware? Its a one off thing to do and once its done its done Im afraid i dont have time to visit 120+ boards at the moment. Plus if it aint broke....
john Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Interesting, I have a wide range of ages of Smart Board and only ever see this prompt as an administrator, staff never get it, maybe its because its a customised smart install where updates and that stuff are all disabled using the Smart Installation Toolkit you can get to do a custom MSI. As for 120+ boards, tbh its a quick enough job your just being lazy. When in a classroom that the boards not being used just do it, the firmwares for SmartBoards tend to improve accuracy and reliability and provide new features.

How can you possibly say that? You dont know my workload etc. Im pretty insulted TBH I have allot of other more important things to do at the moment. I am not Lazy! Edited April 12, 2011 by FN-GM
Steve21 Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 (edited) Err think this is right one Notebook control panel -> Hardware Settings -> (Pick product) -> Mouse and Gesture Settings - > Enable Pop-Up Messages (uncheck ofc) Might want to check if that does updates too (seeing its under mouse/gesture settings), but I know it does other popups. Achandler Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 We actually plan to update our smartboards when we have updates waiting, usually every few terms it is necessary. Lazy to not do it? No I dont think people are so but I see it as routine like cleaning projector filters now tbh, a job that just needs doing.
